June 18, 2008 The Day After

A little over 24 hours ago, we were still in Guatemala City holding our precious boy waiting for his loving foster family to pick him up...their arrival meant an official end to our 2nd visit trip and the onslaught of emotions soon followed. Fighting back tears, saying bye and watching THE BEST foster parents in the whole world walk away with our pride and joy was hard but then again, we knew it would be. On the upside, I have never seen Jim happier on his birthday, Father's Day or heck, any day for that matter; so the tears that came with that inevitable goodbye pale in comparison to the joy Abraham brought us during the 4 days he was with us. Now that we are home the wait continues and we once again resume the agonizing process of counting down the days until there will be no more visit trips, no more waiting. However, until that day we will hold close the memories this last trip has provided us; our day in Antigua with his Foster Family, Abraham's smile and belly laughs and his exploration with verbalization that had us in stitches. For now, we take comfort in the knowledge that his foster family loves him as he deserves to be loved and as always, hope that our wait to bring him home for good comes to an end very soon.
